For a partner to be included in a residence application, we must be satisfied that:

• you’ve been living together in a genuine and stable relationship for 12 months or more

• you’re both aged 18 years or over, or if you’re aged between 16 and 18 years and you have the support of your parents or guardians
  and 

• you met before you made your residence application
  and 

• you’re not relatives.

一、担保人要求

担保人必须是新西兰公民或居民。

（1）担保人新西兰身份证明的材料有：

Evidence whether your partner is a New Zealand citizen or resident can include the original and certified copies of:

• a residence class visa or residence permit in their passport or travel document

• a current returning resident’s visa in their passport or travel document

• their valid New Zealand or Australian passport

• their New Zealand birth certificate

• a recent official statement confirming their citizenship from the Department of Internal Affairs

• their certificate of New Zealand citizenship.

If your partner

• holds a valid Australian passport but does not hold a current New Zealand residence permit or residence class visa or a current New Zealand returning resident’s visa, or

• holds a New Zealand residence permit or returning resident’s visa which was issued on the basis that they were a holder of an Australian Permanent Residence Visa or an Australian Resident Return Visa,

they must provide evidence that New Zealand is their primary place of established residence at the time your application is made and assessed.

Examples of evidence that New Zealand is primary place of residence can include original or certified copies of:

• correspondence addressed to your partner

• employment records

• records of benefit payments from the Ministry of Social Development (Department of Work and Income)

• banking records

• rates demands

• Inland Revenue Department records

• mortgage documents

• tenancy and utility supply documents

• documents showing that your partner’s household effects have been moved to New Zealand

• New Zealand citizenship endorsement in a foreign passport.

（2）品行要求

无不良担保历史。而且如果担保人是17岁及以上，必须提供近7年内居住过12个月及以上国家的无犯罪证明。

if you are aged 17 or over, attach police certificate(s) from any country (except for New Zealand) in which you have lived 12 months or more in the seven years before the application is made.

An eligible supporting partner is a New Zealand citizen or resident who:

• has not been included as a partner in or supported more than one previous application where a residence class visa was granted on the basis of partnership, and

• has not been included as a partner in or supported an application where a residence class visa was granted on the basis of partnership in the five years immediately preceding the date the current application is made, and 

• is not the perpetrator of an incident of domestic violence which has resulted in a residence class visa being granted to a person under the victims of domestic violence category in the seven years prior to the date the application is made.

A residence class visa is considered to have been granted on the basis of a partnership if the New Zealand partner:

• previously supported a successful partnership application; or

• was the principal applicant in a successful partnership application; or

• was the principal applicant in a successful residence class visa application that included a secondary applicant partner who was also granted residence; or

• was granted residence as a secondary applicant included as a partner in an application under any residence class visa application.

配偶关系是至少12个月的真实而且稳定的共同生活关系。

申请人要符合健康要求（体检+X光胸透----孕妇和11岁以下儿童不需要X光胸透），不能有以下疾病。

Generally, we will not approve people for residence in New Zealand if they:

• require dialysis treatment

• have tuberculosis (TB)

• have severe haemophilia

• have a physical, intellectual, cognitive and/or sensory incapacity that requires full-time care, including care in the community.

品行要求：

准备在新西兰带24个月及以上的，而且年龄为17岁及以上的申请人必须提供无犯罪证明。近10年内超过12个月的国家都无犯罪证明都必须要开具。

As a general rule, we carry out character checks on everyone 17 years or over included in residence applications or applying for temporary entry for 24 months or longer. We may also undertake a character check on anyone else that we consider may not meet our character requirements.

any country you have been in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years, whether in one or more visits. If you are already in New Zealand, for example, under our Work to Residence category, this includes obtaining a police certificate from the New Zealand police,

If you were eligible to be included as a partner of a principal applicant in an earlier successful application under the General Skills, Residence from Work, Skilled Migrant, Business Immigration or Business Investor categories, but were not at the time included in the application, you will have to meet the requirements of the English Language policy applying at the time you make your application under the Partnership Category.

三、申请步骤

Steps to apply for a residence class visa 

Follow these steps if you wish to apply for a residence class visa under our Partnership Category.

To help you make sure you have everything you need to apply, please print out our checklist.

Note: Many of our branches provide checklists with local requirements on their branch web pages.

Step one

Complete the Residence Application (INZ 1000) PDF. This form is also available from Immigration New Zealand offices in New Zealand and overseas. 

Your partner will need to complete the Partnership Support Form for Residence (INZ 1178) [216KB].

Step two

Along with your completed (and signed) application form you will need to provide:

• evidence of your partner's immigration status

• if your partner is aged 17 or over, your partner’s police certificates from any country (except for New Zealand) that he/she lived for 12 months or more in the seven years prior to the date your application is made

• evidence of your partnership

• the application fee.

Step three

For each person included in your application you will also need to provide:

• two recent passport-size photographs

• a valid passport or certificate of identity

• a completed Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096) PDF less than three months old

• a completed Limited Medical Certificate (INZ 1201) less than three months old. Alternatively you must provide a  General Medical Certificate (INZ 1007) PDF if you:

• do not meet all the requirements under the Partnership Category including living together for 12 months, or

• were eligible for inclusion but were not included in, or were withdrawn from your partner’s residence application (if applicable). 
  

Note: Pregnant women and children under the age of 11 years are not required to submit chest X-ray certificates unless a special report is required. You may not need to provide a new medical certificate and chest X-ray certificate if you have already provided these certificates in the last 36 months. • a police certificate less than six months old for each applicant aged 17-years and over for each country of citizenship and each country in which they have lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.

• a full birth certificate.

Step four

If you are overseas, find out where to send your application or
if you are in New Zealand, send or drop off your application to your nearest Immigration New Zealand branch.
