Bakersprepare bread, rolls, muffins, pies, pastries, cakes and cookies in retail andwholesale bakeries and dining establishments. They are employed in bakeries,supermarkets, catering companies, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, and otherinstitutions, or they may be self-employed. Bakers who are supervisors are includedin this unit group.

--可能招聘、培训和监督烘烤工作人员和厨房工作人员。
Bakers perform some or all of the following duties:
Preparedough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies andcakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders
Operatemachinery
Bakemixed doughs and batters
Frostand decorate cakes or other baked goods
Ensurequality of products meets established standards
Drawup production schedule to determine type and quantity of goods to produce
Purchasebaking supplies
Mayoversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
Mayhire, train and supervise baking personnel and kitchen staff.

Completionof a three- or four-year apprenticeship program for bakers

Completion of a college or other program for bakers is usually required.
On-the-jobtraining may be provided.
Tradecertification is available, but voluntary, in Newfoundland and Labrador, NovaScotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, BritishColumbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
RedSeal endorsement is also available to qualified bakers upon successfulcompletion of the interprovincial Red Seal examination.
