Elementaryschool and kindergarten teachers perform some or all of the following duties:
Preparecourses for presentation to students according to approved curriculum
Teachstudents using a systematic plan of lessons, discussions, audio-visualpresentations and field trips
Leadstudents in activities to promote their physical, mental and social developmentand their school readiness
Assignand correct homework
Prepare,administer and correct tests
Evaluatethe progress of students and discuss results with students, parents and schoolofficials
Identifychildren's individual learning needs
Prepareand implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
Participatein staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
Maysupervise teachers' aides and student teachers.
Elementary school and kindergarten teachers may specialize in such areas asspecial education or second language instruction.
