Industrialdesigners conceptualize and produce designs for manufactured products. They areemployed by manufacturing industries and private design firms or they may beself-employed.

Mainduties

Industrial designers perform some or all of the following duties:

Consultwith client, engineers or production specialists to establish productrequirements

Analyzethe intended use of product and user preferences

Conductresearch into cost, properties of production materials and methods ofproduction

Preparedesign concepts, sketches or models for approval

Preparemanufacturing drawings, specifications and guidelines for production andconstruct prototype of design

Consultwith engineers and production staff during manufacturing stage.
